Spiritual Activities

Revered Swami Bhuteshanandaji Maharaj, 12th President of Ramakrishna Math & Mission.

On December 4, 1998, in the presence of hundreds of monks and brahmacharis and thousands of devotees Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir was formally inaugurated. In due course the Seva Mandir was affiliated to 'Ramakrishna-Vivekananda Bhavaprachar Parishad'.
Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandir has gained valuable expertise through years of experience. With a view to making the village young men and women self sufficient, we conduct training camps for self-employment programmes, run formal and non-formal education programmes and invest in socio-economic development programmes to enable the villagers to stand on their legs. We also provide training for personality development through retreats and spiritual activities.

Special Pujas and Tithi Pujas:
With due solemnity according to Vishuddha Siddhanta Almanac, tithipujas of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda are observed with Homa, Puja and Bhog following the guidelines set out by Ramakrishna Math, Belur.
Birthdays of Srimat Swami Brahmananda ji Maharaj and Srimat Swami Saradananda ji Maharaj are observed with due solemnity and reverence. On special occasions like Doljatra, Durga Puja, Janmashtami, Bengali New Years Day, etc., there are huge gatherings of devotees and arrangements are made for partaking prasad. The 4th December, being Inauguration Day of the Ashrama, special puja and ceremonial gatherings are arranged at the Ashrama premises every year, with morning processions, dance dramas and religious gatherings.

Bhavprachar in progress
Ramakrishna Sarada and Vivekananda Bhavaprachar:
Somsar Sri Ramakrishna Seva Mandira is a member institution of Bhava Prachar Parishad nurtured by Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Belur. In order to spread the ideology, every evening, a discourse is carried out in the temple, apart from weekly study circle. At four designated points in the villages, groups of young men and women sit together every Saturday to conduct classes on 'Mayer Katha', 'Ramakrishna Kathamrita' and 'The Gita'. On 12th January every year, which is designated as National Youth Day, a daylong cultural feat is conducted every year in presence of young men and women of the village in the Ashrama premises. Recitations from the 'Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda', discourses, devotional songs, etc., mark the occasion to pay respect to Swami Vivekananda.
