Education

As many as 15,000 people live at Somsar and villages around and the lone school to cater to their needs is even less than insignificant. The long distance a child has to commute to attend the school causes widespread drop-outs. The standard of instructions leaves scope for improvement. In this background, TWO non-formal schools on charitable basis are run by the Seva Mandir - one in the premises of the Ashrama and the other at a distant locality of 'Paschim Para' in the village.

Class in Progress

The students of Somsar Ashrama and Paschim Para school get school uniform twice a year. Winter clothes are distributed every year given the rate of wear and tear in the villages. We also provide shoes depending on donations from our sponsors like LBA. Students main meal for the day are bun, banana, milk, khichuri and boiled eggs. Plans are afloat for a Children library which will be open for all kids in Somsar and its vicinity. We shall also provide computer classes and have educative CD shows in future.

Midday meals being served to students
The ashrama school has a fine playground has been developed further and the school boundary has been fenced improving the camps security.

The Ashram also has a land at Paschimpara locality where a school building is being constructed with the intent of shifting the current school of Paschim Para to our own premises. Funds from corporate houses under CSR has been promised by our sponsors.
